I spent the first 27 years of my life on Bayou Lafourche in South Louisiana. Surrounded by swamp & marsh, the memories of my early years there have always been a driving force in my work. This coastal area was always thriving with wildlife. However, much damage has been inflicted on this beautiful area through the decades. The oil industry has taken its toll on the grassy wet lands where many sea creatures come to spawn.  Hurricanes and tornadoes  interrupt and devastate lives there, beyond belief.  Still, the Cajun people celebrate life through strong religious beliefs, parish festivals, unique food, music and lavish parades such as Mardi Gras. My intent in this work is that you see this struggle of beauty, magic, as well as the destruction and renewal of life and spirit.  I also make pottery...
